did i say that? for real?

I think I said it out loud. I think I said I am tired of waiting, out loud. I think I said it out loud to someone.

I know I did.

But I'm not sure if I meant it.

-------------------------------------

What should I say if that moment comes, when I truly, utterly, undeniably, 100% mean it?

I can't just walk out, right?

making mine

For a few months now, I had been looking for a cotton stretch maxi skirt. It is odd that there aren't much around--in fact I have not seen them in the proper stores. I would chance upon t-dress versions--which there are a lot of, that would be my consolation prize or work around but each one fit poorly. Think bulges in wrong places.

Maybe it is my body, but clothes should fit the woman, not the other way around. At least that was what my ergonomic teacher would probably say. Clothes, machines, work stations--airport luggage carts especially ;)

Out of this frustration bore the inspiration to make my own. It is these situations that got me sewing in the first place.I put some details just so that it looks more interesting.I also put in a thick elastic band (care or Rochness) to make sure it doesn't slide off.I'm quite happy with the end result.

Guess that I am wearing today.

i'm a lover not a gamer

As my laptop battery was dying, I reached to the floor to retrieve the charger. I heard a beep which meant that it was a successful task...only, when I looked into my monitor, the screen was in landscape!

I had accidentally leaned over the keypad leaning over and I somewhat perfectly executed a command I didn't even know existed.

If only my luck picking toto numbers was as it is with trivial mishaps, I could retire early.Imagine that.

Oh, and thanks to Gamer RN :D

desperate love

It is funny how desperate people do pathetic things.
I stared at my reflection in the mirror and felt hopeless.

I was sweating, late and without a hair tie.

I have more than a few black elastic bands lying around but this Wednesday, I couldn't find any! Not one!

I had no other choice, but do the unthinkable.

I took my cloth scissors, opened my sewing supplies, pulled out my fine garter, cut off a piece, knotted the ends, frowned, and used it to hold my ponytail.

Whatever works.

Sometimes, people do/condone piteous things because there is comfort in BAU.

snip snip

I think with this photo, people would believe me when I tell them that I don't have eyelashes. That isn't the reason I'm posting.

I took this photo so that I could ask a friend if I am doing the eye color right--that's not the point. Or reason.

I am posting because I like how my fringe looks--like the edge of a nipa hut roof.

third day

I had been looking for a tie dye print I am willing to wear for a while now. I saw this under the yellow light of my favorite store and I thought I had found the perfect one.Imagine my delight when I found out that it stretched too!

History repeats itself. I stayed late at that night to sew my find to something.

Before going to bed, I was quite happy with the finished product.

Waking up was a completely different story though. Cayote ugly?I realised that the cloth color was perfect--as backdrop for a play about the Genesis. Particularly the third day. Go figure.

After not a lot of action with the sewing machine, I have a dress that fit well. Not to mention that it is very comfortable and virtually zero maintenance.

The drawback is that wearing it makes me feel like Miss Earth. :(

summer print

While I am in awe of handmade cloth--and design (e.g. embroidery, dye, etc.), I love that technological advancement now allows patterns in cloth that were not plausible in the past. We can now have picture like quality print on cloth :)

I went to my favorite craft store yesterday and found this. And after my sewing skills' months of hibernation, I was suddenly inspired to sew.People who know me would most likely say that I wouldn't go for such bold print--as I sometimes get literally dizzy with specific prints. However, there are tons of reasons why I would go for this. First off, it is of white background, the print is of cut out picture-like flora and fauna with some watermark effects. Colours are also concentrated on specific areas, hence a lot of white. It is also perfect for the season :)

Well, seasons are not really a big factor where I live as it remains summer weather the whole year round with some now unpredictable unwelcome rain.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I was too excited to sew. I had long debates with myself--in my head about what type of skirt I should make. In the end I opted for something I would wear on weekends.

When I got home, I could not stop myself from feeling the fabric.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

It was past 1AM when I finished fixing up and was ready to sleep.

Only, I couldn't. I ended up not only cutting the cloth but also completing the skirt sewing exercise.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Upon waking up, the first thing I did was try it on again, for the nth time. I have a feeling that I would be wearing it today.

you know it's true

I saw Robin Hood today, the one with Russell Crowe. Although I wouldn't say that it sucked, I felt myself anticipating a kick ass moment that somehow, never happened. I didn't recognise any moments.

-------------------------------

It reminds me of when I saw Robin Hood, Prince of Thieves with Kevin Costner. I looooooved it! I don't know how I'd feel about it now--probably not impressed, only because I'm no longer that kid and I had seen so many movies since.

Still...whenever I see that Bryan Adams music video, I can't help but smile.

measure up

I'm doing another bridesmaid stint nearing the end of the year and I have not given her the vital numbers.

------------------------

I was teasing the bride that this is not 'it' and that she should give me time to slim down.

But the truth is that, well... I got lazy.

This week had been very hectic that I didn't have the self control to force upon myself such a task.

-------------------------

I'll do it this weekend. For sure.

I measure up.

subLINE

I had dinner with a good (guy) friend today and I was so amused to find out that he knew so much about eyeliners. He said he used to put a lot when he was in high school. He expressed frustration with smudges and said he learnt tips by watching his mom get ready before work.

No. You are wrong. He is neither into goth nor emo. And yes, he is straight.

and that's a thousand

and five.

Six if you count this.

I didn't realise that I have written 1,005 blog entries (in singingsappy blog). I must have a lot of time in my hands. LOL.

I created this blog because it gives me sheer joy reading through past journals, each entry takes you back obviously to that specific time in your life. And while everyone has no choice but to move on, I get a kick out of remembering.

count me in

As my sister and my Mom make sure A, my niece does not forget about us (her family who lives far, far away), she would constantly ask A about us.

Sister: A, do you know my sister?
A: Yes Mama, Ninang T.
Mom: You remember who Ninang T is?
A: Yes Nana, she is the one with a lot of shoes.
Mom: How many pairs of shoes does she have?
A: (Thinks) One, two, three...(continuously counts to) sixty.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

(I wonder what was the sudden inspiration was for A to count to more than I have heard her count before because clearly, I don't have sixty pairs of shoes.)

bus card

I wasn't too happy when I tapped my wallet on the bus card reader and nothing was being read. Imagine my frustration when I opened my wallet and found out that I was missing my bus card. To make matters worse, the bus door had closed and the driver had started inching towards the traffic. I had to ask the driver to let me out. Fortunately, he didn't make a fuss out of it.

I made my way back to the nearest MRT station to get another bus card--shaking my head the whole time. I began to think of when I lost it.

I decided that it was that moment when I was in queue and one of my business cards fell off my wallet. Surely, my bus card must have fallen too. I was not too happy about the fact that there were so many people around but not one person pointed it out to me.

I was able to secure a card and get home without drama.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

When I reached home, emptied my bag to the bed so I can get rid of receipts, foreign coins and other things I needed to clear.

And what do you know, I found my missing bus card on top of the heap.

true blue

My desktop is plain blue. It had always been this way. I somehow never thought of putting a wallpaper.

Today while browsing through my photos, I saw one of the others.

The others are the photos that do not make it to my upload folder.

I thought I'd make it my wallpaper. And I did.

I finally had a wallpaper--until I realised that looking at it hurt my eyes--it made me want to squint.

And so, my desktop is once again, plain blue.

jeje

I was chatting with a friend and were trying to decipher a new language bore of jeje. Halfway through, she asks me a trivial question that lead to a whole new discussion.

A: Guess what the first Filipino word girls teach their foreign boyfriends?

T: Hmmmmm. Tough one. A curse most likely--or a dirty word. P.I.?

A: "tampo"

T: Isn't that negative? Why not "mahal"?

A: It might be too soon in the relationship, so you can't talk about love.

T: How about "gusto"?

A: "Lambing" maybe.

T: How do you explain that? "deliberately doing exceedingly sweet gestures to show appreciation"?

A: Hmmmm. That's tough.

T: But the exceeding part seems inaccurate. The point I'm trying to drive at is that it should be over the top, unnatural or out of the ordinary.

A: But in real life it is just another way to let the person know that you care.

T: I think I got it. MAKING OPPORTUNITIES FOR THE OTHER PERSON TO BE AFFECTIONATE.

A: That's it. Exactly.

my (mom) sister and a little girl

After mass, I realised that while I called my sister several times today, I never greeted her a Happy Mother's Day. I quickly told kuya and he said it slipped his mind as well. Our thoughts were sort of in synch, that whenever this day comes, you think about your mom. And that's it.

We called our mom sister to greet her and explain the situation. She laughingly said that our thought resonates.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

She told us about how they spent the day and how my niece said something awfully funny while they were eating pizza and pasta at our parents' house this afternoon.

A said "Mom, your brother and sisters live far, far away--like Shrek".

LOL

barely halftime

I woke up from a nightmare and had been tossing and turning the last hour. It looks like sleep won't come easy now.

So then, it is an opportune time to write a blog entry.

Only, I can't think about anything to write about.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I can feel change coming my way. More like changes. It is not nearly close to the first digit in my age in a few weeks time, but I'm talking big bigger things. Things that matter. To me.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

While I am waiting for the crossroads to come into play, I can't help but think of the forks on each of the roads potentially ahead.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

This had been a very exciting year for me so far.

It is barely halfway through, but so many things had already happened that I can't help but thing that if the pace keeps up, I would need more potent multivitamins for the rest of the year.

underground

I remember how Neil Gaiman would write the same words when he did autographs--which reminds me that when he did one for me he actually drew a Valentine :) Sigh.I took this on my very last day in London, I wish I had thought of it earlier as I spent a lot of time in the tube. I had one go and that was it--I still consider myself lucky that I didn't completely screw the shot.

big ben

The day I went out to see Big Ben was the day the rain was hardest, the wind was strongest and the fog was thickest. It still however, churned out one of my favorite photos from the trip.

second best

This is my second favorite shop in Notting Hill. It looks exactly how I imagined the shops would be.

Okay, maybe a notch better. I mean, what shop has cherubs holding up a banner as signage? And well, it isn't exactly something I could imagine--I think. I'm simple that way.

My absolute favorite was the one with the walls bottom to ceiling mounted with vintage sewing machines!

wicked

I wish I could have seen this with my (wicked) sister.

I am so glad that I am able to catch the show, I really wanted to see a play while I am out here. So much that I would have compromised to see Oliver or Avenue Q (again), but by chance (and a lot of help from Tani and Matt), I was able to see what I really wanted to begin with--with good seats too!

the kiss

Surprisingly, what I liked most in the Tate Modern was a sculpture.

And while everyone else was shamelessly taking photos, I very guiltily took one--then another. Then I couldn't bear to take another. It felt like I was robbing the museum.

I am still uncomfortable over the fact that I took those photos. And as a result I am posting a museum produced photograph. It is interesting how my favorite painting and favorite sculpture are named the same :)

girl with dove

I think I have some new favorites, I don't want to do just one entry for all of them though, so I'd start with what caught my fancy the most first. It is surprising that while I liked a fair set from the thirty must see paintings in The National Gallery, the one I liked the most was not on that list. I could well imagine looking at this every day. I wanted to get a canvas print, but after seeing the real one, it would never be the same.

sunflowers

Today was an exciting day, and I want to write so much about this fabulous--over the top day. However, I think I should save all the other stuff for my next blog entries. Today's story is about seeing the actual painting. Ta-da!
