Born to be barefoot

Every time I wear rubber flip flops for a few hours, without fail, I end up damaging the skin on my feet. I think I may be the sole person experiencing this. For every style, there is a corresponding gash pattern. It is not very convenient for me.

When I was a kid, I was always walking barefoot at home, whenever I go out to play, my nanny insisted that I wear rubber shoes. I tried more than a few times to introduce the habit of wearing slippers, but somehow it never stuck. I would end up leaving my slippers in different areas of our house like the toilet, my room, under the table in our main dinning area, by the island in our kitchen, our living room, under the bed and other unexpected places. My nanny usually ended up spending most of her time looking for my slippers rather than looking after me. Needless to say, I eventually gave up trying. I accepted that I was born to be barefoot--indoors.

I know it is a long shot, but as my yoga instructor would say, I should listen to my body. Maybe it was my body's way of saying that when outdoors, I am meant to wear 4-inch pumps, stilettos, painful boots, impossible platforms, anything but rubber flip flops.

She smiles

As I am a bit of a creature of habit, everyday I buy the same thing for breakfast from the same place. It is ran by Chinese sisters, or I would think they are since they look somewhat alike. I have become very fond of the one with a round face. Without miss, everyday, after I point to the egg, she would smile, look at me, and then say egg. I think it is possible that it is one of the very few English words that she knows, her claim to being multilingual. When she smiles, I can’t help but smile back. She has a very likable face.

Today her evil looking sister was serving, I was disappointed because I would not see that smile and hear the demure murmur of egg.

Luckily, when I was nearing the queue, the one with the round face comes to assist the evil sister. I smile. I point to the egg. She smiles. She says egg.

Across the universe

The "tough" three candidates
L to R: Miss Singapore, Miss Japan, Miss Philippines

Miss Singapore: Tracy? Why is the pasta like this?
Miss Philippines: Hahaha... I'm so sorry guys
Miss Japan: Pon Kan is Japanese!

Focus: Dress

If you look at my middle you would probably think that I am pregnant. I'm not. The truth is, my tummy was filled with all sorts of goodies when this was taken. As this is the only one showing the full dress, I decided to post it.

This is second to my most favorite creation. Ignore the body and unruly hair, instead focus on the outfit to appreciate.

Thanks Porsh for the picture!

Tell me why

Why do I love this photo?

(a) I sew the top

(b) I sew the top and it fits

(c) I sew the top, it fits and my model looks good in it

(d) I sew the top, it fits, my model looks good in it and it would most likely be the first and last time I'd see her wearing pink

white, white, wet

I got off the bus stop across the street from our home and as I was waiting for the green light, an extra long bus came, ran over a puddle spraying dirty water on me. It left me drenched and feeling colder than ever.

Just my luck, I was wearing a white shirt today.

The Yellow Dress

This is really not one of the dresses that I enthusiastically declare that I sew, but so far, it is the only one I have a photograph of. (Cinds, HAHAHA O MAY GAD, I'm waiting for your photo!) Trust me when I say that it doesn't, in any way represent anything like it did for Sylvia.

sunny side skin

I have been spending too much time under the sun that my skin is starting to look discolored. No, I am not being theatrical. Over lunch, my officemate asked me if I was feeling okay, when I asked why he was asking, he said "You look kinda...gray".

29

It is like simultaneous cramps on all the muscles--tongue included, in your body.

It being, umm not there.

K.O.

I was waiting for my food to arrive when I accidentally dropped something. I bent my trunk and reached to the floor when I hit my head hard and fast on the tabletop.

My skull hurt so much that I started to feel very warm and unbelievably dizzy.

It didn't help much that the couple sitting at the next table started to laugh. Despite my vulnerable state, I was able to turn my head to give them a dirty look. My eyes did not leave them until each one has seen me looking straight into his sinister soul. They ate what was left on their plates and took off hurriedly. (I must have looked very scary!)

In an almost knocked out state, I tried to regain my balance--and composure.

I focused on the shopping bag beside me filled with goodies and thought of my cu... cu... cun... continuing source of inspiration and strength. Miraculously, I was back to tip top condition in less than a few minutes.

There is a bump on my forehead to remind me of the incident, not unlike Harry Potter in his near fatal encounter with Tom Riddle. I am truly lucky to have overcome the wrath of the evil table and the sadist one dollar coin that conspired together to bring me down.
