Slasher

The genius who cuts my hair in a ways that makes it seems as though I brush more than twice a day and use conditioner regularly, is on indefinite medical leave. It sucks. And not only because I am in need of a haircut, but he has somewhat become part of my life since I've moved here (dating dati pa @rochness) hence, I give a damn that he is unwell.

-----

I was errrr, forced to go to someone else.

I changed my hair quite dramatically too.

Normally, I'd create a new avatar from the South Park app--somehow, they always seem to have the option that matched my current hair perfectly. For real!

The new hair is no exception. This time however, I didn't have to create one. If you see me and the latest episode, you'd know what I mean.

Well, I'm posting anyway.I am still deciding if I like my new hair.

-----

Somebody told me today that like Quin Fabray, no matter what I do to may hair, I still look the same.

Hmmmmmmm.

I'm still deciding what to make of that.

Decided. Nothing.

shake weight

After watching (and laughing like crazy) in South Park's Creme Fraiche episode, I was sure there was no real Shake Weight product--until today. It's quite hilarious and no matter how scientifically groundbreaking it is (if it is at all), I'm not sure I could working out with it... and I'm not explaining why.

up the wall

I don't really watch a lot of tv. In fact sometimes weeks would go by without me turning it on. In line with this, I think I have the smallest and oldest tv in the country which was fine for me--until we moved homes and the layout of my new room did not allow me to put the tv in any logical place.

With this, I was forced to get a lcd (LED was out of the question--as if I had to point that out) tv that I could mount on the wall.

I was lucky enough that a friend was selling her almost new (although too big for me, to be honest) tv at a reasonable price, so I did not have to spend more.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

I've had the tv for a month and have only used it twice. Once to watch anywhere but here in HBO and the other after it had been set up, so I can check if it worked.

The thing is that every time I go to my room and see it, I feel guilty that I never use it. It is as if it is screaming for attention. Turn me on.

It's weird that way.

Today I gave in and turned it on and what luck! There was a F1 cover, so I was able to utilise it--for two full hours.

telly

I can't believe that for the first time in my life, I am actually hoping that there is a tv in front of me. Because seriously, the last thing I want in front of me at the end of the day is that, the demon box.

It maybe because of that thing I got the other day.

again

I saw an episode of How I Met Your Mother wherein Ted went on the same date seven years apart.

If you didn't see that particular episode, my synopsis would not make sense and would have no connection to what I have in mind to write about.

So maybe, I should elaborate.

In 2002, Ted went on a blind date where he looked for typos in the menu, cracked a silly joke while the girl made excuses about being jobless and didn't stop talking about her cats.

It somehow didn't go so well as to bear a second date.

In 2009, Ted goes to another blind date where he looked for typos in the menu, cracked a silly joke and the girl made excuses about being jobless and didn't stop talking about her cats.

Both dates, the same girl.

No, I don't want to write about blind dates. But being the same person each time you get into something, or take a chance with someone.

I'd like to think that I have gone a long way since 2002, but somehow I remain to be that person.

Specific things that made me happy then, still make me light up.

I still go crazy about wrong slogans or silly expressions, laugh at ridiculously corny jokes, make excuses for eating too much sampaloc and talk for hours about Anne Rice or Neil Gaiman. Actually, I can still talk for hours. There. Annoying. I know.

So maybe, I too go into these things as the same person each time. Somehow.

i want to know

I was watching Oprah just now and I liked what was repeatedly said on the show, a quote from Maya Angelou (who is an autobiographer, I realised after some digging up).

"The first time someone shows you who they are, believe them."

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The episode was about betrayal. There were women who had experienced what had happened--or is happening to a myriad of women all over the world, regardless of age, race and what nots. And I am not of an exception--now is not the time to argue technicalities.

All of them admitted having ignored what was right in front of them, only because they wanted to continue the happy life they had. And that it was not only about giving up on the person, but most importantly and most difficult of all was giving up on the idea of a fairy tale.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

One woman said something that struck something in me. She said that the worse part was that everybody knew but her, and so the betrayal grew somewhat exponentially.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

How do you decide if you should say something? When is a couple issue your issue too?

cheater

I'm not really one to quote Oprah (or read a book just because Oprah recommends it), but I saw an interesting show she did yesterday. It was about cheating men.

While I didn't get to see the whole show, more importantly the closing, some of the statistics actually are still in my head.

It might be the data crunching that I was going that got me fixated on percentages.

1. 12% of men will cheat no matter what
2. 1 in 2.7--okay, make that 1 in 3 men will cheat at least once
3. 55% of the cheaters will deny cheating (even if presented with evidence)
4. Only 14% will admit to their partners without being asked (or 16%? Beats me.)
5. 12% left their partners for someone more good looking, or shapely

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I was not really surprised about #5, in fact my guess was 5 - 10%, only because I DON'T KNOW ANYONE WHO CHEATED WITH SOMEONE MORE ATTRACTIVE THAN HIS PARTNER. Seriously. NO ONE. Maybe I don't know that much people? Not sure.

killer instinct

I finished watching True Blood, the first season today.

WARNING: I'm about to write spoilers.

A friend told me she liked Sookie to end up with Sam, the dog. Dog, in Harry Potter context Animagus. Only because he is cuter than the vampire.

Another friend tells me, she likes Sookie to end up with the gwapo vampire, Bill.

I said I liked Rene, the fiance of the redhead waitress. A man.

(There was also a horndog whom nobody admitted liking :p )

I found out today that between the dog (errrr...werewolf?), vampire and (human) killer, I liked the killer--who didn't even have that much of a role in the first place!

Great. So much for leaving the leading men alone.

flight of the conchords

I've started watching this series and it is really funny. I've seen two episodes so far, the first two from the second season. I think I could spend a whole afternoon watching the rest of the episodes (and eating junk food).

It's probably not gonna happen this weekend though.

My heart broke a little.

cable (rice)

I am the only person in Singapore with an analog box.

My brother reminded me last week, "Tracy, go to Starhub. Pretty soon hindi ka na makakapanuod ng cable. Did you see the ad?", I did.

Kuya took down the box yesterday so I would be able to swap it.

This means that currently, I am the only person in Singapore without cable.

(It is funny how I don't really like to watch tv, but the minute that I find myself unable to watch tv, it is the only thing I could think about.)

chuck sounds like my kind of guy

I had been busying myself with watching episodes of Chuck. I must say that I particularly like the soundtrack.

retrospective writing

Sundays are for reviewing the damage caused by the week that was.

Well, I guess that first line is too dramatic. It makes it seem as though there are significant realizations, events or changes that take place every week. If you think long term, then potentially, there would be. Otherwise the list below would just be another list of as expected useless information.

This week, I realized that:

1. Too much dependency strains friendships and often leads to falling outs. I know what I am talking about here. I was fortunate that for my case, we were able to get past it. We are now better friends than we were, but I was fortunate should be highlighted here.

2. On and off. You are seen as an insane, stupid, hopeless, pathetic person if you are in an on-and-off boyfriend-and-girlfriend relationship; if you are married to the person you have an on-and-off relationship with, you are actually applauded for doing the right thing.

3. More and more people are realizing that I just can't see you in my future is not a break up line, but a reason to break up. Yey!

4. Nerd Herd :) This isn't about that series Chuck, but I am happy to say that more women are discovering how cool nerds are.

5. If you look hard enough and watch enough tv shows, you'd see glimpses of your relationship or past relationships in random segments of most series.

6. If you think you know who left the anonymous comment, you are probably right.

7. People volunteer to make their lives more difficult when they lie.

8. Relationships never end. Relationships however, change.

9. Don't be too quick to say that someone is not paying attention, because it could be the case that you are the one not paying attention.

10. It is not so very easy to shut up and listen.

These are so cute. I saw some MythBusters Avatars online by Christian Pandolfi, I am posting it to neutralize the poison from my previous entry.

Jamie Oliver

I had a dream about Jamie Oliver. We were hanging out at a place presumably my home, and we were exchanging recipes. I then ask him what what the secret to truly crispy friend chicken.

J: That is very simple, I'll tell you.
T: What is it?
J: (Takes something out of his pocket) Just add six packs of these.
T: (Sees Ajinomoto) Oh. How much? How many grams of MSG?
J: I told you, six packs. If you have bigger packs than these, you can use less than six; if you have smaller packs, then use more.
T: (Takes a pack and inspects the content, realizes the text is too small, couldn't make out the weight) You're right. Thanks.

Don't worry. Of course I realize that this is just a dream, not some sign or calling or grand moment meant for realization. Maybe tonight I will talk crap with Anthony Bordain in my sleep.
