must.move.on

I hate buying techie things. It is such a chore, the only time I was excited was when I got this.It is actually... surprise! A FLASH DRIVE :) I got it when I went to Disneyland. Stitch just enslaved my heart. Now the sad part, the disk is no longer readable :(

As much as I hate...ABHOR the idea of letting Stitch go, I have no choice but to send him to the other side. Rest in peace love.Meanwhile, our company flash drive is kind of cute too. Admittedly, there won't be a flash drive cuter that stitch in my book but I need something that works, don't I?Hello.

say my name!

Somebody started calling me Tatat a while back, and somehow whenever I talk to this person, I somewhat expect to hear the word.

What I didn't expect though, is to find out that this person's colleague would type tatat in the IM window.

-------------------

Tatat, apparently means goodbye.

The Next Three Days

I just saw The Next Three Days and I'm sorry I did not catch it in the cinema. The story unfolds quite slowly, slower that one would have anticipated--but it worked! I love Russel Crowe, and perhaps love him more now. I admit that I am able to name a few other people who could have pulled the role off too, but in my mind he was perfect.

you talkin' to me?

The cab driver was just to excited to pick me up yesterday. He wasted no time at all to say that he lives near my workplace and will be happy to bring me around.

As I am very good with playing the silence game, he spent a lot of time saying huh-a... an expression locals use as cue for the other person to say something, or acknowledge what they are saying.

I ignored him.

He went on to talk about picking me from my house everyday. Silence.

You would think that the silence would discourage him. It didn't, if only it inspired him to try harder.

He said that he was single and who ever he chooses to marry will be a happy woman for the rest of her life. He added that he could marry anytime he wanted but he wanted to end up with someone he would meet by chance, and preferable a foreigner who was relatively younger (I estimated the driver to be around late sixties). He even said something like maybe someone in her twenties, around your age maybe...students not good, too young what.

He also gave me a detailed account of his history, from his first girlfriend to the-one-that-got-away.

I'm sure there was a story about a wife there, but he chose to tell those that made him seem like a stud.

I was just too happy when we got to my destination. When I was paying, he said that maybe the stars would align and that we would meet each other again and that maybe then we can get to know each other more.

I looked at him and did not reply.

questions

Sometimes there are questions that we ask ourselves or other people that couldn't be answered, maybe because the answers are lost to us. Or just plain lost.

Maybe, no one dares to answer.

---------

Asking questions comes very naturally to me, maybe it is because a huge part of what I do is centered around getting answers, clarifying, elaborating and encouraging scrutiny of what is being said. Interestingly, part of the job too is assuming that all statements are true--for the speaker, hence I am tasked to extract the actual truth.

---------

Today, I asked a question. The answer I was given was that there is no answer.

I wonder what is the actual truth in that.

WOOFer sticks

There are always giant tins of biscuits and other baked goodies in our pantry and while it is effortless for me to resist (unless I am desperately hungry) these, the latest addition is proving to be an obstacle to minimising junk food.

Hello wafer sticks.

There are two flavors which are (1) chocolate with vanilla filling...errrr, inner lining? and (2) vanilla with lemon cream. I can't decide which one is better. I would always get an even number of wafer sticks so that I have the same number of chocolate and vanilla. I would even eat them alternately!

Today, I was surprised to see a new addition. Midgets. Wafer stick midgets.

These also came with a different pattern, instead of the spiral marking outside like a candy cane, it has spots. I must say that while these are cuter, I prefer the "original" ones.

I told my colleague that a potential new favorite had been introduced to the mix. When I showed her, she said Wow, these are so cute. They look like Dalmatian snacks.

WOOF.

beginning of the end?

Today, the business signed off the last increment for the GIANT project that I had been working on for a the past few months.

I blogged previously about a plant that was issued during the kick off to represent the beginning of the new era (and I prayed that the plant won't die before the project completes).

That plant was intended to sit on our desks.

----------------------------------------------------------------

When I brought my plant to the barbecue area today to water it, I realised that one of the two stems was actually rotting underneath the pebbles. Like any amateur gardener, I got the first scissors that I could find and snipped the rotting part without thinking.

I was left with a four inch clipping with five leaves and roots sprouting opposite sides of the bottom three leaves. I sunk two roots into the pebbles and watered the plant--filling to the brim of the small plastic pot, making it look like a water lily.

Miracles happen everyday, maybe it could last ten more days :)

connect the dots

I had almost gone crazy thinking and rethinking a custom necklace that I am having made. It had been a series of lengthy descriptions and document exchanges. You won't believe the textual detailed description and illustrations that I had provided so that the end product would be perfect. I'm not known to be anal about presentation decks for nothing ;-)

After more than a week, they almost completed a necklace that was all wrong!

I thank God for sending the person I was with when I saw the almost finished product as, somehow it calmed me down.

It was really very disappointed. Maybe I was even teary eyed.

I was so frustrated with the important detail that they missed out that I wrote a three page document to sent out! It even included next steps section!

I got the designer's (errrrr... executer?) reply to my novel today. He seems quite clear with what needs to be done and had admitted to understanding wrongly.

A "Yes. Please proceed." reply would have been sufficient but because of my nature when it comes to specific things, I decided to make a model.

I created a mock necklace. My ingenuity--forced by the lack of proper tools and resistance to spend on craft stuff allowed me to work with what I had!

In the end, I was happy with the fruit of my obsessive behavior.

----------------------------------------------------------

While I made the necklace using my mannequin, the image that I wanted to send over was the one where I was wearing the necklace because my neck seems to be scrawny.

Just when I was ready to send that email, I looked to see if the photo was clear and realised that it looked...wrong.

It was like a Sanrio's take on Twister.

Right point man to blue.

the cut

I had gone crazy over fruit ninja!

The funny thing is that I'm not really big on games--but, when I like a game, I'd probably play it forever. My all time favorite game is Book Worm, followed by Tetris, Sudoku (does that count?) and recently, Angry Birds.

The funnier thing is that playing Fruit Ninja makes me crave for fruits! I actually feel like eating fruits when I see them falling--sliced.

Before going home from work, I passed by the store and got myself some ultra rare +50 points fruit.SLICED!

great minds eat alike

I met a friend whom I have not seen for a few weeks to catch up. Of course it was the perfect timing for my junk food fix!

Upon heading back to our seat from the counter, I felt quite foolish--like a child with a pocket filled with candy. Even before I sit down, I open my palm to show my friend my new toy :)Imagine my surprise when she reached into her bag and pulled out a plastic toy. A Big Mac. She adds that it was just so cute, she couldn't help but get one.

We talked about how it would have been more ideal if they came up with a (1) sundae--or a twist, even better, (2) drink--with straw instead of the apple pie, fillet-o-fish, coffee.

We agreed that it was great they made french fries, but it did NOT make up for the fact that 2011 is a twister-fries-free Chinese New Year!!!

-----

On a separate conversation with another friend, we were discussing about their choice of product features and agreed that the coffee MUST be there to represent McCafe, and maybe the Fillet-o-Fish was their attempt to say "we have 'healthy' stuff like fish".

The Apple Pie did not seem like something distinct about the franchise... so I'm not sure why they had that.

The drink on the other hand is quite distinct plus is is part of the "meal". Maybe they didn't feel it was right to have two drinks.

I'm also bewildered why they opted for the Double Quarter Pounder rather than the normal one. I mean, they had the Big Mac, that should be enough to say "We cater for big appetites here".

Again, GREAT JOB on the Big Mac and Fries--even if I got the Double Quarter Pounder. It's so cute! I want to get the fries too. Of course, I have no idea what to do with it, but for now, I can just not think and gape :)

acid rain

I hate how yoga class turned out today :(

On the fifth pose, I started to feel my stomach becoming acidic. And on the sixth, I knew I couldn't go on.

I laid down to wait out the class until it reached the lying poses.

While I went up and beyond during on the lying poses, at the end of the class, it felt lacking.

I can't figure out what was up today. The yoga teacher always says that our bodies are different everyday and if your body tells you to back up a bit, that is what you have to do. And I did. Back up.

I am somewhat disappointed that I didn't do much during the class. The person I was with said that I shouldn't be too hard on myself. I know he is right...but sometimes, admittedly, I could be quite stubborn.

---------------------

And as if the weather was sympathising with me, on the way home it started to rain--hard.
