in bLOOM

My mom bought me a rainbow loom set.

With it, she got me four packs of rubber bands.  I have the camouflage, skin, opaque blue aside from the rainbow mix that came with the loom.

Seeing my niece hooked and finding out from my sister of my interest, my mom decided she was getting me the kit.  She even hand carried my toy to me :)

I love it!!!

'flower power'

It was really the 'dragon scale' that I wanted to make, hence it was the first bracelet that I made.  I gave it to my niece :)

My next bracelet was the hexafish, that is the blurred bracelet above, left.  It took forever to do, really.  But I love the simplicity of it.  I used a mix of the skin pack and the beige from the camouflage pack.  That bracelet is mine.

Meanwhile, the bracelet with the bright pink flower had found refuge around my good friend's wrist.  

'citrus'

I saw the citrus style bracelet on Friday and made a few.  I love how it looks like a sand dollar.  The puffy effect also makes me want to make A LOT and pile it on.  It's a shame these two don't go well together. If only I had all the shades of nude....  

I had also made other bracelets like starburst/rose garden and a few charms, strawberries, letter A, anchor.  

The intention is to practice so I can make a simple bracelet with loads of charms.  I am wanting to get more rubber bands, in the colours that match my clothes more.  Then, the ultimate bracelet will be made.

I know I owe a few people the 2011 favorite things entry but somehow I can't find the time to compile and post. Maybe I'd do a series with each entry featuring one favorite thing. How convenient for me :)

With that in mind, let's get into the things then.

I love the fabric stash that my Mom brought with her when she came to visit. This (photographed) is not the entire lot, actually. This perhaps is a third of the haul.

I think this is number one for several reasons.

First, it reminds me of how thoughtful my Mom is, going through lengths to visit the fabric store regularly checking and re-checking if they have jersey fabrics in various widths and colours.

It also gives me an opportunity to sew more. You won't believe how truly excited I was with the potential of each fabric! I made three skirts from the stash so far. I am looking forward to sew everything by the end of 2012. I truly hope I can come up with clothes that I would wear for a long time with such lovely raw materials.

Fine. I realise that the photo is useless as it doesn't really show off the color, which is the topic of my entry. Maybe I'd post a better one when I have my camera with me.

Coral color reminds me of my mom. Growing up I'd see her put this lip colour in the car with one hand and the other holding the wheel.

I always thought it was a funny color, whether for clothes, food, wall papers, what have you. It seems like a shade that is not... natural to anything. Except perhaps, cough syrup.

When this lip shade became popular again I wasn't sure how it would pick up. I don't really pick make up based on trend alone so I was so sure I won't get one. And I can continue referring to it as my mom's color.

And perhaps because of this, I just assumed that it is not flattering on me.

With the Wonder Woman make up collection coming up, it seemed like an appropriate time to get comic--y.

I picked up the most unlikely shade and tried it on, hoping that it would repel me...then, I'd walk away.

Fail.

Spitfire backfired.

I NEVER thought I'd say these next two sentences.

I LOVE THIS SHADE.

IT IS VERY FLATTERING.
