green tips
I'd be lucky if a manicure would last two days without chipping on me. You see, I love washing my hands. I also tend to type like crazy. As I can't stand these chips, I tend to wear a color, at most three days. And on the average, less than two days.
You can just imagine how delighted I was that the mom color I slapped on my fingernails lasted three days without a chip. After some heavy cooking yesterday though, it was only expected that it was time to say goodbye. Only I thought maybe I can try doing a french tip-esque.
If I screw it, so what? I was taking it off anyways.
The result is quite cartoony as I played with the colors a bit.
For some reason I kept thinking of a plastic watermelon. If I had a fine sign pen, I'd draw dots for seeds so I can show my niece something that would make her giggle and say "You're so funny, Ninang."

cemented
I realised that the past few months, my nail colour stash had been growing.
It started innocently enough late 2010 when I bought my first one in brick red, I used only that for close to three quarters of a year till I got the eggplant. I used those two alternating for half a year.
Someone gave me a silver shatter--at some point. I forget when that was.
One day, I saw a sea foam green that I liked. I'm crazy about green. And then some multiplicity phenomenon happened.
Now, I have three green shades.
I also have a copper one. Bronze? You get the idea.
Why am I writing about this?
Because I shocked myself liking a glitter polish today. Another errrr, break-through?
This one I'd describe with my limited nail colour knowledge as the the most subtle full glitter nail colour there is. Or that which I know of.
Full glitter is what I'd call something you wear on its own--capable of an opaque finish. I imagine there would be an industry standard terminology for that. And I have no clue what it is.
What color? To myself, I describe it as what-I-imagine-concrete-would-look-like-in-Barbie-world.
---
EDIT: I change my mind! After one day of wearing this, I decided that it makes me think more of SANDPAPER (in Barbie World), rather than concrete.

Of green toes and half moons
While doing Facetime with my Mom, she was surprised to see my hand nails painted (I almost never have anything on my fingernails,as opposed to my toes)and asked about the color.
She laughed a bit when I told her as it is quite funny--the shade. I was so glad it wasn't a product of my favorite make up brand, it would be awkward telling her "oh yeah, on my cheeks I've got libido".
Anyway, it is a deep green shade that I love. It feels weird having the same color on my hands and feet though. For me, it is like wearing shoes and belt that match perfectly in a color that pops. It sort of loses the appeal.
She then tells me that she has a friend who had lovely "half moons" on her nails and had them painted on over her shade.
Having trouble imagining that? Instead of a french tip, she'd have a concave shape--like a rising sun in white at the bottom of the nail.
---
Then I thought about my own nails.
I never really give much thought about them, but I distinctly remember having to this day, natural "half moons" on my thumbs--but not on the other finger nails.
I told my Mom as much, citing that I remember having those on each finger nail when I was a kid--maybe I "lost" eight half moons at some point.
---
Is it so wrong if I suddenly feel the urge to wipe my nails clean just to check? ;)

Top Coat
I recently bought two bottles of nail colour.
I was drawn to a certain "shatter" polish. Basically, you apply one coat and the polish sort of...cracks. Think errrr, drought.
Obviously, I needed something to apply as a base, otherwise it would look as if I just had my nails done a month ago and didn't bother to take them off.
----
Toes are easy enough. But...
I must say that it is hard work painting nails, especially the right hand. I am no way ambidextrous--it seems.
My penmanship doesn't change so much using either hands--I had been told more than a few times that I write like a doctor, but painting my nails highlighted my left hand's short comings.
----
I don't know it I'd ever be able to apply nail colour without my nails looking like I didn't do it myself.
Even with the shatter top coat.
Booo.
