shake weight
After watching (and laughing like crazy) in South Park's Creme Fraiche episode, I was sure there was no real Shake Weight product--until today. It's quite hilarious and no matter how scientifically groundbreaking it is (if it is at all), I'm not sure I could working out with it... and I'm not explaining why.

seriously sewing
I had been sewing non-stop the past week (I think sewing, dream sewing, talk sewing--practically live sewing) that I have neglected my resolve to exercise more. I was not able to go to the gym the whole week, no walking sessions too. Although I am itching to sew some more tonight, I would put it off until after some gym time.

so strong
I think I have underestimated my own strength (or lack of control).
As I was pulling out a styro cup from the dispenser, I ended up poking a hole into the cup with my thumb. Twice. (I had to wait till lunch time to drink some water!)

I didn't know that with great strength comes great thirst.

do you believe in love?
I like it when I have the whole gym to myself, it means that I could (1) keep the windows open, (2) set the a/c in swing mode (3) keep the tv off and (4) sing along my mp3s as loud as I want.
Yesterday I was able to do all four, however, on the 27th minute, someone came in to workout and heard me do my take on the chorus of Huey Lewis and the News' Do You Believe in Love.
Bummer.
I am happy to say though that I was able to enjoy benefits 1, 2 and 3 throughout my workout. That's not too bad.

i wana get...
Guy goes to the gym and heads to the treadmills, he starts the one right beside this particular girl. They have talked some before. He once got her a protein shake and tried to pass the gesture that he does to everyone everyday.
Guy: Hey. You're here.
Girl: Hey.
Guy: Let me see what you are listening to, pass me your ipod.
Girl: (hands him her ipod and reaches for his)
Guy: (scans through the songs) Not bad.
Girl: You have a few songs here that I should copy.
Guy: You know what? I think you are missing this particular song. It is a must have.
Girl: You think? What song?
Guy: (gets his ipod and scans to the particular song) Here. Listen.
Girl: You are so right! (laughs)
(It was Olivia Newton John's song, Physical)

Run woman!
After fainting last week, I am again, reminded by my body of how important exercise is. I noticed that it is when I am most inactive that I get dizzy spells. So today, I ran.
I ran for ten minutes after which, I felt like fainting again.
Tomorrow, I'll run again. I hope I last eleven minutes.

sweets and sweat
I recently bought myself a 55cm exercise ball and it just so happens to be pink. It is the only color they have. Whenever I use it, I feel funny because it looks as though I am on top of a giant jawbreaker.

PURPLE tRAINing
I am now a proud owner of dumbbells.
I really wanted 4kg ones but the salesperson practically begged me not to get them, he says they are too heavy for me. I thought he was right, it did feel too heavy and I'm afraid I won't be able to get even 3 reps (yes, reps, not sets!) of arm curls using them, so I tried out the 3kg ones. It was better. But again, the salesperson insisted that those were still pretty much too heavy for me.
As I am one to take advice from "experts", I tried out the 2kg set. I must admit, the weight seemed perfect. I think I have found the one.
But no! Mr. Salesman was still pushing that I get the 1.6kg.
I thanked him for his help and said that I would be getting the 2kg. So I headed to the counter to pay for it, Mr. Salesman follows me and continues shake his head and look disappointed.
I lugged the dumbbells all the way from Marina Square to Esplanade where I had dinner with my friends. It felt like a workout. At this point, I start to think that maybe I should have gotten the lighter ones.
Now that I'm home and inspecting my new possession (it feels so much different from buying shoes or clothes, where you'd try them on for the second time) I suddenly realized that it is purple and it matched my yoga mat.
Purple is not my favorite color, in fact I hate purple. The only reason why I have a purple yoga mat is that at the time of my purchase, all other colors were out of stock. As for my dumbbells, the 2kg ones comes in only one color. And I bet that because you're so smart, you would have figured out what color that is.

DUMB about Dumbbells
I have decided to purchase some dumbbells as the lightest set of dumbells at our condo's gym is quite too heavy for me. In my opinion, it is more suited to the likes of Vin Diesel. Enough said.
My dilemma is this: Should I get the stackable ones? This will give me flexibility and I could get the ideal weight depending on my routine. OR should I get the 8 (or 10) lb ones? It is more comfortable to grip, less bulky and more aesthetic. Besides, it would probably be the weight I would be using 80% off the time.
Big decision. DUMBbell decision. Jackie Lou Blanco (JLB), help me!
