follow the leader

Look what I got from my fortune cookie...

Bucktown

We left the office early on Friday to walk around Bucktown, where the streets are lines with interesting shops, cafes and a really good french restaurant--where dinner was. Around the area was a club where the Rolling Stones used to play! I thought the place was quite lovely. I won't mind living in the neighborhood! I am grateful for a lot of things, and another thing to be grateful for is to have a boss who is not only brilliant but would go out of her way to catch up, shop and hang out with you even if she (1) is flying out for a conference the next week, (2) finalising the objectives, aspiration and personal development plan of her global team and (3) throwing a birthday for her three year old next day.

Bulls

I'm so glad I caught the game tonight.

Good things come in three. First, there were really good baskets made tonight.Second, I got my three seconds of fame, only because there was a cute kid sitting beside me holding a sign that said I love the Bulls!.And because they made it to a hundred, I get a free big mac too! :)

I don't think I'd have the energy--or ability to write about what I did for St. Patrick's, but I'm happy to post what I have to remember the day by.

love is like an onion...

...flaunting its fabulous form on top of the middle seared scallop on my dinner plate :)

I can't say enough wonderful things about my dinner, I however won't bother typing about that because I don't really see the point.

I've posted instead, this masterpiece.

anger manageMEND

What is wrong with this picture?
I was not too happy to find a run on my favorite wool sweater :(

And especially because it was the dry cleaner's fault. It was perfect when I handed it out. I know because I checked each item!

While I was able to mend the sweater (and not my broken heart), I still find myself clenching my teeth whenever I chance upon the gash by sight or touch.
Battle scar from a near fatal hit.

Chicago Theatre

This one here just scream CHICAGO--almost quite literally. I was hoping to catch an interesting act.

Sarah Silverman was on last week--but sold out.

Janet Jackson is on this week, but somehow I don't really feel like listening to Again in this condition. That condition being seemingly having acute bronchitis.

Let's see how I'd fair next week.

should i stay or should i go?

I just came back from the doctor and I had been told that I needed a humidifier to help me get better.

It is interesting how the humid air back home sometimes makes it hard for me to breathe.

I'm glad I was able to get a humidifier, in less that one hour I began to feel relief.

BEAN walking around

I had some time to walk around on Saturday and decided the first thing I wanted to see was the bean.I'd hear people say all the time "Who makes a giant bean and passes it off as something brilliant?", maybe not those words exactly. But something close. I heard similar comments too when I was there.I thought it was genius. For one, it is a gold mine of photo ideas! It is very clean and sort of a good modern twist to a seemingly old city. I LOVE IT.I tried to get a good bean photo, but this was the best that I could get. Oh well. There were some skaters too! What was fantastic though was that Rick Astley was playing in the background! NEVER GONNA GIVE YOU UP!

rainy days and iPods

For an incredibly long journey, I was loaned an iPod as it was clear that my two-hour-life-per-full-charge-first-edition-nano would not make it.

As I was not able to sync my music with it, I ended up listening to the owner's playlists.

I think a good bulk of the albums were the same as what I had but... a good number of songs were overly sentimental. Don't get me wrong, I did enjoy it. It reminded me of being young and tuning in to Friday Madness.

After two hours, I felt melancholic. I turned it off and struggled to sleep, only... I had Restless Heart stuck in my head!

-------------------

On the way back, I think I'd be tuning to other playlists.

in too deep

Someone told me that UNO was the original deep dish pizza and Lou once worked there....

I haven't tasted UNO, but if it is better than Lou's that that should be terribly good, as I'd literally walk miles to get another one of Lou's ;)

Wonder Woman

I was a little excited about these. A little. Maybe around a tenth of my excitement around the Venomous Villains. Who am I kidding? Maybe a fifth.

These were more nice to haves for me.

I would have liked it more if Wonder Woman is actually in the products rather that just her logo. I don't even remember her logo from childhood!

The boxes are cute. The product packaging looks plastic-y. Very. It reminded me of play make up for kids.As much as I am griping now though, obviously I still got a few items.

I don't know why, as honestly, I buy these stuff for the packaging. I am not very specific about colors anyways, so it doesn't bother me if it is a once-in-a-lifetime-event and that I could NEVER buy the exact same shade of something.

The JUMBO lip glass made it at the very last minute. It is really jumbo in size! The wand and tip are twice--at least in diameter as the original ones! I thought it was worth getting it for that alone.

Told you, P A C K A G I N G.I was pleasantly surprised about a specific lipstick. An experiment lead to a ground breaking discovery. Maybe it is genetics, but somehow fuschia looks okay on me.

Line drawn--coral lips.

isn't it a wonder (woman)?

Fine. I realise that the photo is useless as it doesn't really show off the color, which is the topic of my entry. Maybe I'd post a better one when I have my camera with me.

Coral color reminds me of my mom. Growing up I'd see her put this lip colour in the car with one hand and the other holding the wheel.

I always thought it was a funny color, whether for clothes, food, wall papers, what have you. It seems like a shade that is not... natural to anything. Except perhaps, cough syrup.

When this lip shade became popular again I wasn't sure how it would pick up. I don't really pick make up based on trend alone so I was so sure I won't get one. And I can continue referring to it as my mom's color.

And perhaps because of this, I just assumed that it is not flattering on me.

-----------------------------------------

With the Wonder Woman make up collection coming up, it seemed like an appropriate time to get comic--y.

I picked up the most unlikely shade and tried it on, hoping that it would repel me...then, I'd walk away.

Fail.

Spitfire backfired.

I NEVER thought I'd say these next two sentences.

I LOVE THIS SHADE.

IT IS VERY FLATTERING.
