from the school he chose

So apparently there is a men's basketball league in Singapore wherein alumni from different universities team up to play against other representatives. Think UAAP.

(I could almost feel the drums.)

Boom boom. Boom boom, Boom-boom.

Where was I? Right. The league.

A graduate of the other school joined the league.

X: So ano yung requirements para sumali? How do you prove na dun ka nagaral?
A: Wala lang.
X: Huh? Kahit ID number or something?
A: Wala. In-english-english ko lang yung mga nagoorganize, naniwala na sa akin.

hey cutie :)

These are so cute. I saw some MythBusters Avatars online by Christian Pandolfi, I am posting it to neutralize the poison from my previous entry.

BB

I learned recently that silent battles tend to prolong the agony. And friendships that endured trials become stronger with renewed trust and confidence.

(Thank you to two certain individuals, peace and harmony once again rule in regularity.)

Hence, my blog entry:

I refuse to give in to your whim--even if you throw another childish tantrum. The last thing you could expect me to do is lick your imaginary wounds. You are not a victim; it is your inability to grasp reality that leads you to believe that terrible things always happen to you. Do not blame the world or take it out on me if you find yourself stuck in mundanity you preach as sublimeness. I offer no apologies.

singing seriously last sunday

So I went to mass on Sunday. I sat beside an old lady, also attending mass by herself. I noticed that she had taken time to get a copy of the Song AND Mass Guides.

I never bother to get these as I'd rather listen than listen AND READ at the same time. It is redundant and I get frustrated when I find the reader lagging behind my reading in my head, like an echo.

As the mass commenced, my seatmate turned to the page and held the guide closer to me, as if to say that we should share. I smiled and held the other side of the guide, it is hardbound and quite heavy, I didn't want her to strain her arms just so I could be guided.

I still think that the mass guide didn't make a difference for me, as I am able to memorize the response after the reader makes a run before going through the intentions. Okay, maybe a slight difference, as I need to peep at the verse of the week sandwiched by hallelujah singing.

What surprised me was the singing part! I ended up singing all the songs. Even those that I didn't know. I used the notes. I know, I can't sing on key to save my life, but at least I could get the timing right. Whole note, four counts....

I even finished the final hymn!

I think next week, I'll get a song guide. Or I'll sit beside her again.

juicy

Look what the lovers got.
The juicer might as well be my favorite kitchen plaything. MIGHT--because it is still a toss-coin between the juicer and the food processor. Think salsa.

Last night though, I would have straight away given the juicer the top spot. My reason? Make that reasons...

cucumber + green tea + calamansi + red apple + mandarin vodka
grapefruit + orange + mandarin vodka
green apple + green tea + mandarin vodka
carrot + red apple + orange + mandarin vodka
red apple + pineapple + orange + mandarin vodka

The first one is my favorite from last night. Drink of the night? :)

The buzz effect is still a mystery. Due diligence? I am waiting for a certain Joplets.

Here are some more photos from OBBO.

(with you) i'm hard core

Here is an edited version of the chat exchange I had with SG yesterday.

SG: I'm watching Shopaholic next week with my the girls.
TG: Hahahahaha. I see you have a session too.
SG: Yeah, it is a bonding movie.
TG: It is funny how if the two of us were to watch a movie it would most definitely NOT be the Shopaholic movie or something like it.
SG: Yup. And if we were going in a group I know of someone who would object.
TG: Well, I know of someone who would initiate watching it, and would pass it off as though it was my idea.

When I think about it, it is probably the kind of relationship that I have with SG. Although we are girl friends, we never do girly things that girl friends do (I am not complaining here, I am simply stating a fact).

What is it that we do? Nothing.

What is it that we talk about? Nothing.

Like Seinfeld.

tongue twister

I was telling a friend that a certain view was no longer visible to me because I have already minimized the window. And it proved to be a very challenging task (the telling my friend part).

Dude, minimimize...minimi...miniminize...wait, dapat yun minimize lalagan ng in sa gitna diba? Okay...mI-Ni-ni-mize ko na yun window.

Whew.

(Btw, isn't TONGUE spelled funny?)

senior year

Where were you exactly four years ago?

I was lying in bed, tossing and turning wondering how it would be like working in Singapore. Four years ago, I moved to Singapore not because I was running away, but because I wanted to find a way...not to finish my chores so I can play, something more meaningful than that.

I can honestly say that moving here was the best decision (okay, maybe ONE OF THE BEST DECISIONS) I ever made.

(It was fitting too, because although we didn't realized it, tonight, my friends and I actually celebrated the eve of my coming...that doesn't seem right.)

neneng is away, must find a way (to finish chores so I can still play)

The last ten days were filled with firsts. I'm sure more would be added to the list until Neneng is back from her vacation.

I am undergoing the Stepford Wife Training. I am both Trainer and Trainee. I am not without "consultants" though. I did the following for the first time in my life and did everything well. Walang palpak :)

1. Cooked rice (using rice cooker, not hard core saing)
2. Cooked dinner for my brother and sister-in-law
3. Vacuumed my room
4. Changed my bed sheet, pillowcases, etc.
5. Washed my clothes (using washing machine, not hard core palo palo) <-- white
6. Washed my clothes (using washing machine, not hard core palo palo) <-- colored
7. Hung my clothes to dry
8. Checked if the labada had dried
9. Moved labada from sinampay rack to planchahin rack
10. Folded then stacked pantulog into the designated compartment in my closet

(It is my list, I could split items 4 and 5 if I want!)

the graduate

eat my heart out

It was chicken curry for dinner last night.

Each of us had a bowl of well, curry soaking a thigh-and-leg part. As I transferred the piece from my bowl to my plate, I notice something dangling and upon close inspection, I realized that it was the chicken's heart. Please don't ask me how chicken organs are connected, but there it was, a small heart. Dangling. Off the thigh. Connected. Dangling.

I looked at my brother and said do you want this?, pointing my knife to the organ; he said he'd take it if I didn't want it.

(No. I don't want no chicken hearts.)

I sliced it off my dinner and placed it on his plate. He forks it and puts it in his mouth.

(Okay, maybe I like the chicken hearts in this certain Brazilian place.)

don't know what to say

X: Hi miss gomez, when can I pick up the parcel?
T: (date and time)
X: Tkq

It took me a while to figure out what "tkq" meant. I'm somewhat not too proud that I was able to decipher such cryptic message.

knowledge transferred

I was exchanging messages with a my colleague (who is local). I did tell her a while back about the H and Z phenomenon. I must say that our company is good at recruiting people. She was not only able to retain the information, but also apply it seamlessly.

J: are there a lot of changes to (project activity) reports?
T: (changes)
J: ok
T: YUPZ :P HAHAHAHAHA
J: OKIEZ
T: thanks JHOYCE :P
J: thanks TRACZ

singing the unknown

As I reached for the light switch in the bathroom late last night, I suddenly started singing "Me minus you equals blue...", I couldn't help smiling to myself as I wasn't sure if I just made up a song in my head.

I immediately googled for it and true enough, such song exists! Hahahahaha. It was even written as ME - YOU = BLUE.

I youtubed to listen to the song and ended up closing the tab before 15 seconds lapsed. It was just too hard.

strike out

The print is made out of countless three-dots-skewered-by-a-single-beige-colored-line pattern set in alternating columns, hence the blog entry title. After making tucks, the pattern became semi irregular and made it more interesting. I think this dress could be useful when performing hypnosis.

Stare at the dots.... You are getting sleepy....

zippered

After a year of doing without zippers, I am suddenly unable to think of sewing anything without zippers. This is the latest one I sew. The zipper runs diagonally across the chest then down the side.It is funny how excited I get whenever I put the dress on. Zipping up and down had never been this fun for me. Hahaha.
Forgive the dirty photo.
I really need to get his dress washed and ironed. Can't wait to see how it looks then.

every hue is represented by me and you

I remember that time when I went to a popular clothing store where the salespeople were Filipinos, the store was playing my favorite OPM song, Kaleidoscope World. I found myself doing something else inside the fitting room--besides fit clothes, I sang.

Francis M died today. At 44. Too young. Too soon.

Stay

I remember the day my Ortho gave me my retainers. He told me I should wear my retainers every night forever. He also said that if the day comes that I get married, he will give me a free pass so I can not wear them during my wedding night.

I was happy with my smile pre-braces, I only got braces because my wisdom teeth were bullying the rest, so the Ortho suggested that I have these nuisance teeth extracted and get braces. I did. Both.

Now, back to my story.

Of course I followed the instructions, until I became very confident that my teeth are gonna stay put. This was when I started wearing my retainers every other day, then every three days, then only on weekends, then every other weekend until I never wore them anymore.

Just now, while flossing, I saw the familiar case and thought I should see if my teeth behaved. I realized that they didn't.

As I am typing, I have my retainers on and I feel like my head will crack in the middle from the strain. Geez, the pain is close to unbearable. I get this for being stubborn, and I know what I have to do. I would start wearing them every night again. Unless of course, it is my honeymoon.

sama sama (saying goodbye)

These raw photos are from November 2006, taken using my then new point-and-shoot. I like how the pictures turned out, because of the changing light the photos look somewhat off, like holga shots.

I like this photo best in the set, not because I took it (I took the one with Grace and Kristine too!), but because I like how you can see the light changing from blue to green. Of course this is on top of the fact that Grace looks demure and super pretty in this shot :)

daydream

I took a nap as soon as I got home from work. I had a dream....

I broke in to my parents' house to steal a car. A couple of blocks after, it broke down so I had to get out and walk, only I didn't have pants.

Since it was dark, I thought it was fine to walk without pants, I felt cold though. A group of men started to follow me, not because of my bare legs but maybe because they wanted money.

They were not able to catch me as I saw a motorcycle (that became a bicycle if you drive in from the rear), jump started it and drove somewhere to eat six eggs, kobe beef and cuttlefish shabu shabu style (some sashimi on the side too!).

After dinner, I was attacked by a hyperactive chick, yes, a small chicken. I was so stressed as its beak would drive into my flesh; I'd push it to the wall every chance I get, but while it got a bit disoriented, it also got more aggressive.

I felt I had to put some muscle into my defense so I poked its eye with the heel of my shoe then smashed it against the wall with a broom. It gave me the sad look and then fell on the floor.

I ran to the room and locked the door behind me only to find that I was in a room full of locusts, I thought "God is punishing me for killing the chick".

The End.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

My friend says we should psychoanalyze. Kalokohan, but let me give it a shot.

Stealing the car <-- I guess I miss driving so much. I especially miss the car I used to drive everyday when I was still living in Manila, that is why I specifically stole that one.

No pants <-- It was cold in my room. Maybe that is all there is to it. And I wore a long top while sleeping (no pants). Hahahaha. ALTHOUGH, I did wear a different top in my dream.

Motorcycle cum Bike <-- I always wanted to have a Vespa but I feel that while I'm based in Singapore it is more practical to get a bike.

Chick attacking me <-- Chics--and those who couldn't be called that attack me all the time. Nothing new.

My reaction to the Chick <-- I don't like people who pout out of habit, it gets under my skin. Maybe I finally had it and it is only in my dreams that I could do something about it.

Shoe for weapon <-- This is my subconscious telling me that I SHOULD buy shoes. MUST buy shoes.

Shabu shabu dinner <-- I am a glutton.

you had me at hilo

I'm home this Monday afternoon as I had another dizzy spell. There was some relief from the meds and a nap, I then picked up on some work I needed to complete today. When all was done, I rewarded myself with some tikoy. I have mastered the art of cooking tikoy, crunchy outside and gooey inside. Perfect. Of course I found myself dizzy again after cooking.

After recovering again from the post tikoy cooking dizzy spell, I noticed the book I was using as a mousepad, The Bell Jar by Sylvia Plath, I flipped through the page where there were some text that I liked. Don't ask why I like it, my answer would be a whole different entry altogether.

"I saw myself sitting in the crotch of this fig tree, starving to death, just because I couldn't make up my mind which of the figs I would choose. I wanted each and every one of them, but choosing one meant losing all the rest, and, as I sat there, unable to decide, the figs began to wrinkle and go black, and, one by one, they plopped to the ground at my feet."

LSS

Rod Stewart is a charmer. I left the concert more fond of him. After a late dinner, mojitos, snacks, mojitos and mojitos, I'm still singing.
